Day 1: Moshi/Arusha – Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree):

Upon arrival, a 4WD vehicle takes you through a forest track to Lemosho Glades, from where your trek to Mti Mkubwa (big tree) campsite begins. Day 2: : Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 2 Camp
After a nourishing breakfast, the trail ascends gradually through the giant heather moorland zone. Crossing several streams, the journey spans 16km over 7-8 hours, leading you to Shira 2 camp nestled in moorland meadows by a stream. The habitat transforms to Moorland, with elevations ranging from 2650m/8700ft to 3850m/12,600ft

Day 3: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp
Continuing eastward from the Shira Plateau, the trail heads up a ridge, eventually changing direction to the South East towards the Lava Tower, or the “Shark’s Tooth.†The day's trek, spanning 8km over 5-6 hours, guides you to the Barranco Camp. While the elevation remains around 4000m/13,000ft, this day is crucial for acclimatization, preparing you for the summit day in the Semi-desert habitat

Embark on the most challenging ascent in the early hours (midnight to 2 am) towards the summit, passing through the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. Reaching Stella Point on the crater rim, take a moment to witness a breathtaking sunrise. From Stella Point, a 1-hour ascent through snow leads to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro at 5895m/19,340ft. Descend to Mweka Camp, covering 5km up and 13km down in 5-7 hours and 5-6 hours respectively, traversing Stone scree and ice-capped summit habitats.

A Monkey Adventures vehicle awaits at Mweka gate to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi, completing the unforgettable journey in approximately 60 minutes.
